This place is really close too one of my friends house. We all got hungry and decided to order from Kum Kang San. First of all they were able to cater to our $60 budget and provide us with 60pcs. I've been eating at this place from time to time since it opened. The food is good, the service decent. Food arrives with minimal wait, even when the restaurant is packed. A great sushi restaurant in Canada?! Wow I didn't think it could happen.
We've been to Ichiban a few times now and brought friends. This place really is a hidden gem beside hockey sushi. Their rolls are nothing short of spectacular. The tiger roll and crispy roll are two of my favourites. The presentation of the rolls is always great, and how do you beat sauce that's deep fried?
They also serve some korean dishes, and we had their bul-go-gi. I found it to be really good! The place seems to be run by Korean people, so maybe that's why.
Service was exceptional. You can choose to sit at tables or in private rooms. The waitresses don't speak perfect English, but they're very friendly, polite, and helpful.
If you live in gta (or even if you don't), you have to give this place a try!

I am a patron using a disbility device and while the restaurant is not "accessible" perse they do their best to make you feel comfortable. Now aside from that, I've been visiting this restaurant for roughly 20 years. My Mother and I found it a long time ago looking for a good Japanese restaurant that wasn't all the way downtown. The have great sushi, sashimi, tempura, teriyaki, soups & my favourite Japanese style salad! Decor could use an update but it's clean and comfortable. There's a hidden entry from parking behind the restaurant or the double doorway at the front. Last night I decided to eat in for the first time since becoming differently abled so to speak. I had the Legend Boston roll with crab, Japanese mayonaise and salmon topper. It was very rich so I suggest if you try this do it with several people so everyone can have a taste, it was lovely but too rich for just one person to demolish. I had the shrimp tempura dinner which has tempura vegetables with it. Last night the tiger shrimp were lovely and fresh and the mix of vegetable composed of squash, sweet potato, onion and broccoli were very yummy. They make amazing tempura sauce. The meal comes with salad, miso soup, rice and huge plate of tempura so again great for sharing! I took home a cucumber roll for my son but seriously considered their toonie Tuesday offer which is a California roll, max of 2 given the offer, but my son is new to Japanese os a simple cucumber roll. I have plenty left over for lunch and am hoping the tempura will crisp up under the broiler today! Thanks to A.J. & staff for making it a lovely experience with my needs ;o)

Katsura is tucked away in a separate, but connected, building right beside the main building of the Prince Hotel.
The food here is very good but only slightly better than the cheaper places in the area. The teppanyaki tables are good. The sushi is fresh. The prices are high and the portions are not particularly large.
So why would someone choose this place over its cheaper competitors? It's the decor and the service that makes this place stand out. From the moment you step in out of the snow, you are surrounded by tasteful Japanese decor. In the main dining area, the place is elegant, simple and to the point. The design allows large groups to eat in semi-isolation. This is the restaurant you impress your dining partner, be it a business meeting or a first date.

We have been eating here forever and a day. Sometimes their service (especially when busy) is a little slow, but the food has always been great!
Now we do NOT go to eat sushi for artistic presentation, but for the overall freshness of the fish, and the rice. While their presentation of their food is very good, it won't compare to some high end sushi restaurants which have superb presentations. The quality of their food has always been on par with the highest end sushi restaurants I have eaten in.
I like the fact that prices are about 40% less then higher end sushi restaurants, while the quality of the food itself is on par!
if you are in the area, it is definitely worth a try!

I love this place! I have tried everything from the teriyakis to the udon to the maki and its awesome across the board. I have been a customer since they first opened over ten years ago and the service is excellent as well. The owner is a joy to be around and makes her customers feel special (she definitely recognizes her frequent customers too which is a nice touch). I highly recommend this place.

Tempura & Kalbi combo is delicious~ tempura vegis include 3 shrimps, 1 green pepper, 1 cucumber, 1 broccoli, 1 white onion, 1 sweet potato...(maybe i missed 1 more vegi) however, it's very satisfying... grilled kalbi is like bone-in beef teriyaki... very flavorful~
Sushi & Sashimi combo is awesome-ly fresh-ly delicious~ simply excellent for its price~
alright~ here comes the Salmon Head BBQ~ without this meal, I will give them 5 stars on Food catagory~ it's kinda dissapointing that the Salmon Head isn't grilled to order~ the salmon skin isn't charred till crispy~ it's more like it has been "microwaved"~ the interior is a bit hotter than the exterior of the Salmon~ the only drawback of the whole meal~ however~ the rest is still maintained to its perfection so far~ keep it up~ and see you next time~

I got here for lunch often because it is close to my work. Prior to that my boyfriend took me a few times too, since he lives nearby and loves the place.
I'm quite surprised at some of the reviews here though. I love the place! I feel very welcomed, the service is good, and the atmosphere is quite nice. I've never been disappointed with their food, and find the quality much better than some restaurants. That said, I would note that I find them to be a bit pricey.
So overall, it's a great place! If you like friendly staff, good food, and nice environment go here.

Ginko was the first Japanese restaurant my boyfriend took me to before we started dating. I was quite skeptical upon first glance, since they're located by the airport and inside a hotel. Once inside and seated in a comfortable booth, and eating, my opinion of this establishment quickly changed.
Not only does this restaurant make you feel like you've literally stepped into Tokyo (as evidenced by the traditional booths, decor and Japanese waitresses serving you in Yukatas), the food will surpass your expectations. My boyfriend was in charge of ordering, and he ordered us assorted sushi and sashimi on a boat. We were met with excellent service, and I must say--the quality of the fish and dining experience will have us be returning again soon.
