When you go to chain restaurant, you often get apathy, slow service, and usually something below par. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised. First off, when we were seated, they did the server's name in crayon as many chains do, but also pointed out where the washrooms are and told us explicitly that we could ask any server for anything if she was not visible. The chocolate milkshake was loved by my daughter, and was nice and thick with the extra that didnt make the glass served in the stainless stell container it was made in. We were getting worried about service when our brushetta bread took so long, but the server showed up, and apologized for the delay telling us the original order was not up to par, so they remade it, and because of the delay, it was on the house. WOW - free food and I didnt have to complain at all. The chicken fajita was served sizzling hot and the wings were very good. The atmosphere is typical for a bar and grill, targetting the younger crowd. The staff all wore blue t-shirts with cheeky slogans such as "Please tip well - i know that's not your wife" and the servers are selected for certain assets that goes well beyond statistical coincidence. I would go back with the guys, or a business client, but not really a family place, but the food was very good, service was excellent, and little things like stocking diet redbull as well as the regular blue can, made it a great place to eat. We've been to the Granite Brewery a number of times as the food is always fantastic with generous portions. In addition to the delicious food, they have a good selection of their own brews. We especially enjoyed their Ringwood, a delightful blonde. There are different atmospheres for different tastes, but at the Granite Brewery they have several to choose from. Two excellent patios, a bar, and a family restaurant area, all designed for comfort. The rear patio looks particularly amazing, but as it was raining, we'll just have to wait until next time to try it out. It should also be noted that the Granite Brewery has free parking with easy access. The Granite Brewery gets our highest recommendation and we will be back soon. Read more

I try to go to The Longest Yard once every week., and I have been since shortly after it opened. The staff and management are friendly and welcoming and the food is decently priced for the portion/quality you get. It's a 5 minute walk from Islington subway station so if you're planning on drinking, it definitely saves money on cab fare. If you drive, there's quite a bit of parking on Bloor and on Eagle (side street). They have one of the best burgers I've ever eaten, and the beef is organic. They have other options as well, though the menu isn't fully organic. Every day, they have specials for dinner. Fish and Chips tend to be a special on Friday and Sunday night, and it's really good. The added bonus for me is that I'm a Baseball fan and The Longest Yard is the only place I go to where even if there's playoff Hockey and Basketball on, at least one TV will have Baseball and I won't be told "Sorry, nobody wants to watch Baseball." It caters to the family as well as the Sports fans. I was there for the Superbowl and for the Olympic Gold Hockey match. It's not the type of place where people go to get completely drunk, loud, and obnoxious though people are drinking. They also have contests during big events where you can win prizes and even cash!
