The food we order is always good, we always order more than enough so we can sample more dishes. I think the people that gave bad reviews probably ordered canadian style chinese food. They are much better at cooking Authentic Cantonese than fake Chinese food. I'm thankfull that I don't need to go all the way downtown for some good Chinese food.
As for the kind older lady. She is not the owner but a very kind and devoted employee. "I know her nephew. "

We ordered multiple items. My girlfriend bit into her eggrole and almost broke her tooth, she had bit into a type of onxy stone, about half a centimeter big, huge by any standards. I was shocked and immediately called the restaurant, they apologized. Watch your teeth!
I have been going to this restaurant once in a while since it has first opened a few years ago. This time we had a sit-down dinner and the food was delicious. Yes, I am Chinese and I found the food was quite good, the greens were "young", the sauce was not too salty and loaded with oils. Our food was quite authentic, fresh and healthy. I see this as good Cantonese restaurant cuisine. Our tea was served and refilled promptly. I didn't have to wave them down for the bill, I looked at someone directly and they took notice immediately. I'm a repeat customer and I can tell they are slowly improving their restaurant atmosphere. The servers are always fast - I never see them standing around chatting to each other and they are always in the main eating area. But I have no complaints about the chef. So, if service is not as fast because of the load of customers, I'm not going to complain. Takeout is fast, too.

Has to be the best Chineese restaurant I visited in a long time. The food is excellent, portions abundant, and the variety is there. The service is good and polite. We do also place orders that I pick up to bring home. They are always on time, and everything comes nice and hot. When I plan to eat chineese food, le Rideau is my first choice.
